FAQs

In our experience, dogs with pre-existing digestive issues usually notice results within around 2-4 weeks of continuous use. For dogs without digestive issues, Total Probiotic is a great insurance policy to protect against future problems.

Yes. We are strong advocates for utilising supplements such as Total Probiotic before any issues have developed. All dogs can benefit from the use of probiotics as they not only contribute to optimal gut health, but also play an important role in maintaining a healthy immune system.

Total Probiotic can be used indefinitely, unless otherwise advised by a medical professional. It is a safe and effective supplement and daily usage will ensure that your dog’s levels of good bacteria remain at an optimal level.

We suggest waiting until your puppy is a minimum of 12 weeks old before using Total Probiotic. Inside this timeframe, your puppy’s natural gut flora is still developing and should be given adequate time to do so.

Yes. Total Probiotic contains live culture strains which have been fermented from non-dairy sources, making it suitable for vegans.

Yes. Total Probiotic is suitable for dogs following a gluten free diet.

Yes. Probiotics are good bacteria and perfectly safe for dogs. Whilst bacteria is seen as a negative word, there’s an important distinction between good bacteria, which support the digestive process, and bad bacteria, which can be harmful to the digestive process and the body in general. Total Probiotic not only increases levels of good bacteria, but also reduces levels of bad bacteria – helping to maintain your dog’s natural gut balance.

The probiotics in Total Probiotic come are fermented from non-dairy sources.

We recommend keeping Total Probiotic somewhere cool, or in the fridge, though this is not absolutely necessary. There is some research, however, that a cooler environment will enhance the shelf life of probiotics in general.

Where a dog has a pre-existing issue, such as a sensitive stomach causing diarrhoea, Total Probiotic has proven to be effective in the vast majority of instances. There is a minority of cases where Total Probiotic has not eradicated symptoms and, in these cases, we have found that this is usually because of a dietary intolerance related to the food that a dog is consuming. So, whilst Total Probiotic can ease symptoms in these situations, it would be unlikely to eradicate them completely.

We suggest feeding by hand as a treat, or alternatively putting it in with your dog's food, whether whole or crushed into a powder.

FOS, or Fructooligosaccharides, in the form of Inulin, are powerful prebiotics that feed good bacteria in the gut. Without prebiotic fibre, such as Inulin, the good bacteria can’t do their job correctly, which is why we include a healthy dose (250mg) of prebiotic fibre within our Total Probiotic supplement.

The probiotic strains found within Total Probiotic include: Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Lactobacillus Plantarum, Lactobacillus Brevum, Lactobacillus Rhamnosus and Bifidobacterium Animalis Lactis.

Total Probiotic contains Amylase, Protease, Lipase, Cellulase, Lactase and Bromelain.

Digestive enzymes work to break down fat, protein, carbohydrate and lactose – ensuring that Total Probiotic has all bases covered when it comes to your dog’s digestion.
