What are probiotics?
You will often see probiotics referred to as friendly, helpful or good bacteria – and that pretty much sums it up. Probiotics are live bacteria that will help to restore and maintain your dog’s natural gut flora.
What will probiotics do for my dog?
If your dog is suffering from tummy-related issues, then probiotics can help you and your dog in targeting the cause of these symptoms.
Even if your dog does not currently suffer from stomach problems, we still recommend giving them a daily probiotic supplement to support healthy digestion.
Why choose Total Probiotic?
Total Probiotic contains 2 billion live bacteria per tablet, which is many times the inclusion level of most probiotic supplements for dogs.
In addition, Total Probiotic also contains prebiotic fibre and digestive enzymes. This combination of ingredients has been expertly formulated to support your dog’s digestive system and combat unwanted symptoms such as diarrhoea and excessive wind – not to mention contributing to the overall health of your pet.

Yes. Probiotics are good bacteria and perfectly safe for dogs. Whilst bacteria is seen as a negative word, there’s an important distinction between good bacteria, which support the digestive process, and bad bacteria, which can be harmful to the digestive process and the body in general. Total Probiotic not only increases levels of good bacteria, but also reduces levels of bad bacteria – helping to maintain your dog’s natural gut balance.
The probiotics in Total Probiotic come are fermented from non-dairy sources.
We recommend keeping Total Probiotic somewhere cool, or in the fridge, though this is not absolutely necessary. There is some research, however, that a cooler environment will enhance the shelf life of probiotics in general.
Where a dog has a pre-existing issue, such as a sensitive stomach causing diarrhoea, Total Probiotic has proven to be effective in the vast majority of instances. There is a minority of cases where Total Probiotic has not eradicated symptoms and, in these cases, we have found that this is usually because of a dietary intolerance related to the food that a dog is consuming. So, whilst Total Probiotic can ease symptoms in these situations, it would be unlikely to eradicate them completely.

FOS, or Fructooligosaccharides, in the form of Inulin, are powerful prebiotics that feed good bacteria in the gut. Without prebiotic fibre, such as Inulin, the good bacteria can’t do their job correctly, which is why we include a healthy dose (250mg) of prebiotic fibre within our Total Probiotic supplement.
The probiotic strains found within Total Probiotic include: Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Lactobacillus Plantarum, Lactobacillus Brevum, Lactobacillus Rhamnosus and Bifidobacterium Animalis Lactis.
